Love is in the Air.

Ahahah i am not pointing to anyone even though i tag you here =P but yes i do sense that lovey dovey aroma in Facebook especially times when Semester is going to start. I have blogged a few posts about the love life i have always wanted, owh yea or perhaps i should include a task to find a girl friend as my 2010 resolution =P LOL

No i am not a desperate dude, though so many of you call me Buaya outside there x) But yea please do not misunderstand if i go out with one to one often because simply i enjoy getting to know one person at each time and to focus on everything on her surrounding.

Normally it's those people who networks a lot seems to buaya banyak sikit cause they tend to have sweet mouth because they will need to favor people to keep in touch due to large networking.

So yea let me match you la if you are searching for one x)

There is a reason why i always repost things like this, 8 things i look in my future wife, simply to remind myself again my thoughts, if you don't feel like reading it, then yea just scroll down.

I define Love life as...

My perspective is about finding your future wife/husband, in fact not really considering that person your girlfriend/boyfriend. The way you see her/him will change your perspective on her/him and therefore your actions right?

Why do i find/need her?

I don't find a girl friend just for love needs, if there is love there is anywhere, i am not that romantic type of dude, neither thirst for love guy.. but there are 2 main reasons, sense of responsibility and Spiritual Growth.

I have always wanted a younger sister, perhaps always seeking the feel of responsibility for someone, that in return may inspire you as well. I really hope to find a strong Christian girl who can challenge me by spiritual maturity day by day. Lame or not, but i find it very awesome, and miracles happens when a relationship is centered with God inside and Him as the priority instead of your love. And i have yet to experience it, and yes looking forward =P

By the way ignore the S.A.D Sangat Available Dude,

I ain't someone who is desperate, crush is pretty normal for me, but again it is my list i refer through again to give me a distance from it. There goes again..

The 9 to tick boxes..

1) Christian - Not by word and name, but by heart. Because i want whatever happens in our BGR, goes to God with prayers and seeking Direction from Him.

2) 3 months of Besties - I don't wanna go into a BGR like with a newly known, hyped up person, i just know that the faster i get into it, the faster i get out of it. 3 months to really know how perspectives revolve around her.

3) Knowing her Family/Friends - of course this one important la, parents especially, i don't really find it to get into a relationship with someone whom i haven't met her parents yet.

4) E and T - If you have know the MBTI personality test, most of the time it is people with E and T that attract me, as long you are an E Extrovert then many things come into similarity, T thinking is really my type because i am a T as well and i would want to expand my perception by critical thinking with her x)

5) Talents - I am a guy more into talents skills rather than looks, simply because i don't have looks, and not really with many talents.. but yea looks don't stay, talents expand..

6) Family Before Me - Because it is the same way i will treat you, my family comes before you too.

7) I am not your Everything- I am not some dude with high maintenance BGR sadly, that's why i will prefer as she is as active as me running around and having her own world. The tagline is easy, " I want to be Part of your everything, but not your Everything!"

8) Similarities - Some says similarities, some says differences that make two sides know each other better, mine is similarities, because you could just read her mind like no one else could. :P

9) Height - I don't have anything to comment on this, any height pun boleh la, but of course not taller than my eye level or shorter than my elbow level.

And yea just these 9..

I don't really see many options, especially in USM, all i think is my highschool crush for 3 years consecutive and right now few people =)

So Lord Jesus, when will i enter a Relationship? =)

But Heh single Rocks, because you could just go all around

and inspire different people without them worrying for your side =)

My AIESEC Story 2009

Anyways yea as i have mentioned, and to again clarify myself again what i have been thinking and going to do, there goes MyAIESEC Story 2009 post. It seems that after MyLDS, no one could escape from the atmosphere of the @ word haha. Even just now when i went out with Wendy, Tylor and Ruth, we found it that we are so attached to AIESEC already. My entire holiday seems to be so AIESECish, so i bet there goes the same to all MyLDS delegates..

How i came to know AIESEC?

I started to know about AIESEC 2 years ago,during my post form 5 break i guess? when i was in HOPE conference, which my sister Rue-Hann was the OCP for the event (if im not mistaken) and there goes a blow for me to think on how powerful AIESEC could impact lives. Then i was even so excited that without any @ knowledge, i was asking Brandon about how to start AIESEC in UTAR.. (now i laugh at myself) all i remember is he saying " get few people together then blablabla haha" then i just knew that it was just a simple conference like HOPE that we could really impact university individuals to do something beyond students routine and make an impact outside of it. I still remember Hazwan was sharing his India Exchange, and as well as there is a night info wholy about what is AIESEC?

The whole impression about AIESEC during that time is memorable, i even remember trying to tell all my matric friends about AIESEC as i know most likely everyone will be heading to pre uni. and yes again, i didn't have any AIESEC knowledge but just the spark of powerful impression i had that drove me to spread more about it.

And then it was one year later, last may, I went for MYC Miracle Youth Conference by LC UPM. Then it was really where i start mixing and knowing people from AIESEC, and i miss MYC Interns seriously! i didn't expect that we are still keeping in touch today! and it was where i met my brother sister Lims as well =P

And it was that time i knew that i have just got USM offer, so i met Jessica and Nicholas there, and got some guidance about Uni life as well as LC USM, and little did i know that Nicholas was actually the participant of HOPE 2008, and we are in the same department same LC right now.

and the ever since HOPE, I didn't know i will land in the true AIESEC platform in LC USM, rather than Taylors or UTAR i have intended to do so, God is Great, awesome stuffs happen.

And something i really really appreciate is my sister's thoughts, she didn't really tell me about AIESEC despite her active involvement in LC UPM, but she just invited me to the conference, and let me figure out the whole concept of this platform. and that i am truly glad of.

So what is AIESEC to me?

If i were to sum it up to one word, i will say,

AIESEC is just like a CAR.

It's always being said by many people, AIESEC doesn't teach you but it is a platform for you to learn yourself, it is a platform for you to do learn from your mistakes, there is no top or bottom, there is no ending but a starting, it is just like a whole stretch of highway with endless turns of opportunities to upgrade your car! You are the key to start the engine, it is yourself to initiate your own heart to go. And along this highway, you upgrade your parts, or you get accidents and you need to be repaired! you are being backup! Everything just moves forward again!

However again, this whole decision is back to your personal life and how you want to manipulate it for a better you. The main reason is because of good works, we do good to society, we run conferences and workshops to empower youth today to make a difference, we make this world a better place to live in. That's the part which have caught me. Something i do which i will feel Significant by bit.

However here comes the problem.

And i really learn to use the 4 Ws, not Where, who , what , when... but Why why why why?

Priorities. Joining AIESEC is not what i plan to be actively involve in. There is entirely nothing wrong with AIESEC at all, because again said, AIESEC is not for everyone. When i am challenged to step up for EB (which i know obviously no chance but the experience is awesome of course), it is just so tempting but again i ask what do i really want in this University Life? I wouldn't want my networking in EB to balance off my networking in the Architecture Life, i am not a superman to balance networks in 3 or 4 areas. I am greedy i admit, there is this sentence always popping out of my mind.

"Finish what you have started", Serena Chan, MC VP TM

but i have never really excelled in an area and grab a place of fame before, never. because of multiple interest.

So what is really my plan?

But again when i think back to my 4 Whys, this is truly not what i plan, AIESEC is just my 1st year plan, then off to exchange, and i must continue to head on for my Architecture Journey. It is not because my whole life will be so Architecture, simply because i have feeling there is something better outside. and the reason why I enter AIESEC for this term is i want to get myself equip, to see how stuffs run, how materials help people.

I wanna start off a University Project with my coursemates, inspired by the idea i presented in MYC, which called Y.E.A.S,
and then recently there is chance that i could be youth ambassador for Youth Asia in USM,
who knows i could do some partnership mentoring with some overseas Architecture Board which are more to a sense of achievement to me.
Photography and PKA ( Christian Fellowship) are a greater priority to me no matter what, serving in church is also another thing, we can always say self/time management we can do it, but i seriously doubt i could =/

It simply adds up to a conclusion, i am a dude with too many Ideas but less Actions. and that's the fragile part of me! My mom always say again,

Life is just a SINGLE layered Pie Chart, No Kuih Lapis.
Priorities equal to percentage of commitment.

But yea again no doubt,

AIESEC is truly life changing, it is the GROUP of people whom i really get to learn a lot with,

It's the very distinctive maturity thought that bound us together,

just that too bad =/ ,

i guess i am starting to carve out a more exciting path for my Architecture life =)

But of course i will be staying on with AIESEC la, this semester, because i am really excited for the new projects! and deng i really want a shanghai exchange!

and i hope i won't go against my words in this post after the exchange! ahahha!

Again i remembered it was my sister who mentioned your name at first, quite surprising that i just knew you recently and how much we are connected right now. I guess i met you the first time in MYC =) yes and it was just half year ago! Just wanna say thanks for everything esp the vivacious part of you.. i think you are one awesome girl who just knows what you are doing time by time and i totally love the independent part of you. Definitely will still keep in touch with you as i know you will be leaving your LC soon =) you are definitely one of my closer contact in the AIESEC world. Heartz ya. and yes you are just too cute.

Kai Jie! again it is MYC that i met you! Thanks for the past half year of guidance and assurance. we both know you still owe me a lunch! evil laughs* Keep up staying that awesome smile and optimistic in you! yes it is you bro. The first USM AIESECer i have met i guess? 2 years ago in HOPE Conference and now we absolutely don't have idea we will be in the same department in same LC. I wanna say that you are someone awesome, a thinking machine, an input boat, we are a team, i see the wonderful way how we balance each other even though both of us are ENTJs and we know what we are for each other =) See more of you in the next semester with more projects going on. Congratz buaya queen! Yes i am quite surprised too actually! x) i will agree with your sugar cube, i guess we will never able to reflect back to the past and searching when we were first met. hahaha but definitely we did i know. so funny that the first time i met you in Mylds your distinctive voice and behavior did kick off some familiarity there hahaa. I guess we both know each other better after some several chats =) we both know the same situation we are facing, we both know that we need to grab hold to something on . there is so much more to know about you definitely. To my 3 awesome non LC USM AIESECers, who appears to be from my college, definitely i wouldn't think that you guys will land in the AIESEC platform =) even though i know i had talk stuffs about AIESEC during college life. It's really really a privilage to see us meeting each other in this platform, and of course as we all know we will be expecting to see each other grow. So yea if there is any conference for available facis position or delegate application in your LC, tell me ya! wanna go there bising bising sikit! hahaha.

I am really Glad to meet you in the first place, i still remember the moment you step into my room and we start sharing about how we knew AIESEC and agreed to join LC USM, and i know right now we are so indulged into it. Yes i have given up on the rat race, and decided to stay here a little longer =) so true that when you said we can't get over busy more than one sem, simply because i am bored of it and i feel i have lacked of self talent development as well as knowledge. hmmm.. and i know these things because of you yee leng. nice to know you in the biawak race x) see you!

22. To all other LC USMers,

There is no discrimination but i have just so many stories to share!! to reflect on each every single one of you! how much you have changed my perception! screams* very tired edi though.. In a one nutshell voice, just wanna say! I am really looking forward for next sem and to witness EB selection as well =P It will be awesome to see new people step up and i will do whatever it takes to support you awesome people. I guess by right now everyone has their own definition about AIESEC, but no matter what we do share a common view and that proves we are a team! no doubt that after MyLDS i could know each one of you better =) heartz ya!

How I IMPACT Myself.

Hi World!

Yes i was doing Belbin group role test in MyLDS minutes ago, and after that awesome personality test then we do good visions and goals sharing..

So after a discussion it seems that many people came to an understanding that goals are the variable factors that could be changed in order to reach your vision. I totally love what my college mate shared,

" Goals are just like stepping stone to reach your visions, you could step on other stones too to reach to similar destination." Chai Kim Fan, LC UTM.

Eveyone also went eye to eye for S.M.A.R.T goal settings, Strength, Weakness, Actionable, Reality and TimeFrame. However what really struck me is that i discovered the moment of the turning point of my character, that when i set my themes behind each goals.

I guess if you want to have an increased of self awareness, self confidence, confident, optimistic, this is my story that i have found all of them which you might want to hear =)

My vision is simply to be an Inspiration to anyone who met me, whether long or short. =)

Some of us we just see years passed by and see our resolutions set for the new year something unaware. What i started to do 2 years ago is something could be seen in my blog's header. To set each year to different goal, to set the 4 quarters in the year with different theme, then to set MONTHLY GOALs, and then WEEKLY mini Goals. One of my mini goals is some sort like.. say "Well done to 30 people per week" in order to help me remind to develop others because i was pretty ego.

What i could really see how this IMPACT me is that, i really really find that new start inspiration for each week! Because you set your week right, you know what is it to be done to improve yourself, you know how much you have MOVED forward. And that has improved your self confidence, and that has given you the self branding value, that has encouraged you to put up the smile because you know what you are facing everyday. and people has know you better for that, and they have confident in you.

So that's the awesome part i have discovered about myself. Am HAPPY!

Developing Others?

Yes just a picture to show i am currently in UUM,

Naa yea many monkeys indeed.

Anyways FIRST DAY OF MYLDS has launched off!

Had workshops for the whole afternoon till evening! attended Developing Others, Effective Presentation, Self Awareness, as well as Multicultural teamwork.

One thing i will really remember of, Developing Others, I shared this in my group Discussion,

" I guess the main problem of me is my perception towards other achievements, i take it as a challenge or jealousy rather than a celebration together"

That was part of my reflection back to the read "Winning with People by John C Maxwell" It was so true, though mostly people mention about communication skills barrier that hinders them from developing others.

But i guess some people are a little surprise when i say i go for this workshop because it is my weakest, while we have to go for another workshop for our strength too, which i went to Self Awareness. Jin Yin kinda reflect back the stuffs i have been doing back then, It reminded me about the expectations and goals i set for throughout 2009. And her words remind me that my effort is actually paying off despite i doubt i am a person who really develop others, But I TRIED.

So yeap MyLDS is on the Track, AIESEC USM has surprising Square Dance Moves coming up!

Mr Liang Mun Yee. Hear His words through him.

"And Jesus said unto them, come ye after me, and i will make you to become fishers of men" Mark Chapter 1:17

"Don't Be Afraid, from now on you will catch men" Luke Chapter 5:10

This is the session i remember the most from the recent PKA camp, where Mr Liang spoke,

"Don't lie to yourself and identity, if you are a FOLLOWER, then you must be a FISHERMAN."

Man i totally love the way Mr Liang spoke, every word is just like directing straight into your heart, his words are empowered with evidence from the truth, and as well as very cautious with the evolving happenings.

Throughout the Evangelism workshop God really challenged us to think again if our lives are living upon His name, if ourselves don't even grab hold to a daily basis discipline to seek his name further, there is no use to talk about Evangelism.

Leaders are born but they are not made, fishermen are made but they are not born.

It really made me think out, how AGAIN? our daily lives could be an impact to anyone and anytime to really make us as Christians to be fisherman. So think again if you are really a Christian?

Are you doing your everything in life accordingly to glorify His name?

Yes i am blogging now even during this final night of my stay here because i just realize i will need to rush to pack to go MyLDS 2009 when i get back to KL! yea expected to reach home around 9 and then 10 something need to rush off to Pudu for 12 midnight bus to Kedah UUM. Yes i guess it is my first time being to a book fair and the crowd is a different feeling, would glad to take down few snaps but my DSLR wasn't wit me. It was the first time i felt that i so so need to read, and with the amount and variety of books there, it is so tempting to get one box to just grab everything and read all of it the rest of the year! Simply because ITS SO CHEAP! range between RM10-20 for each book! There will be a popular book fair in summit USJ too, won't be going though =/

The 3 architecture, sports photography books my sister bought for me before the time i went.

Hopefully it will inspire and give me more ideas, who know soon i will indulge into architecture photography occupation.total? 45 bucks.

This book is certainly something which totally hit me, have been searching for something related to this after my trip to singapore, plus whatever contains inside is well organized, statistically proved. 10 bucks.

This is certainly something very general knowledge =) how much is it? 15 bucks. compared to usual? UK $20.

This hits me too, talking about God's way it should be in Business.

And there are one thought that creeps out of me,

Look at all of these books, they could provide you much more informations and general knowledge and that will be crucial in conversations, and compared to the business you are having right now.

My social networking must stop here i guess. First sem objective is done, I don't aim to be impressive of handling many projects or whatsoever, the simply reason why i join many things again at first is to expand my social network that's why.

I should spend more time in 2nd semester reading up books and do more online resourcing. Stop joining activities but prepare the skills to initiate a project during 2nd year. And also do more self skills development instead. and do more self leisure random photography trips.

Sometimes again i can't stop and stare if this is what I want, or GOD wants? I am kicking out NRIC and RakanMuda Carnival, perhaps soon GreenLung too. Sometimes again it's not the amount of stuffs you join that harms you but the thought of responsibilities can harm you in your social life, that's what happen here. I realize i have changed in terms of not really enjoying my time talking to people. Not able to carry out heart to heart talk for such a long time already, even though of being able to know new people everytime.

Our lives are always represented by a single layer pie chart but not double layered, How you spend your time and attention towards others deduct the other's percentage. My mom told me that.

I figured out i have put a lot of personal time into other activities. and perhaps what few seniors told me is true, it is impossible for thinking to busy for one semester, the people you meet, the source you have, will bring you the next busy level, and that sucks.

So what's up for 2nd sem?

So right now i have figure out my decent pie chart is, AIESEC, PKA, Church Media Ministry, and some architecture exposed facts and research. PKA is memang will be my life line thing, i need it to assist my spiritual growth, the recent camp shows me more than that. AIESEC is because i will need to do student exchange and the people i meet there are simply more than friends but inspiration. And i think i should get involve in church ministry. God has calling for my skills i guess, photography and guitar.. I hear that. Running remains as a leisure, i don't wanna do training, i don't wanna go for MASUM anymore. and i will need to really focus on developing my skills.

*Breath in* I do enjoy very much the business i had in first sem, but if i were to carry on doing this for 2nd sem, then prepare to be a total freak who doesn't know what life is, and especially when God is calling you.

Penang Bridge International Marathon 2009

Hi WOrld!

Yes i went for PBIM yesterday early Morning, to start off my 19th Birthday x) owh well i didn't really expect any birthday celebration as i don't really have them often, but it is more towards a reflection on why God put me on this earth and how am i going to do it according to His will.

PBIM was awesome. However, my target record of 1H50Min is crushed obviously, i achieved 10km during 50.25. Then thought i could maintain but had a leg cramp during my 15th km, yes to make it worst, both legs. so i walked =/ Evidence? There goes the graph =)

and yea there goes another chart to see your overall.

The gears i ran with during that day. Yes i guess this sportband.. is not available in Malaysia kua? Not too sure. but yea i paid a little high price for it in Singapore.

PBIM Is truly one of the most.. grand, crowded, cool marathon ever, the numbers itself is the largest crowd hitting 22 thousand people. Even the mass media coverage as well as joint venture of sponsorship companies says it all. Digi was the official sponsor, they dominate the branding sessions putting their logo on almost everything. And yes the funny point was that bananas are given out by yellow army too =) and also it's a marathon where i see many pit stops available.. wet sponge, mineral water, bananas, cold 100plus.

And running on the bridge is definitely something impossible without PBIM. The breeze during the morning was awesome. Very challenging because it's a one whole long stretch which takes pretty lot determination to keep on running.

"The whole point of Marathon is not about winning the race, but just keep on stomping forward without stopping for the entire race is beat your own timing"

That was told by my 10 minutes uncle friend =) And told me some nutritional facts while running with him. Take slow breathe instead fast, stay straight and look downwards, and lastly, encourage each other to run, this is a race of thousands, not alone.

Life is just like a marathon, it's not just about achieving a position, but never stop your pace and keep on stomping your steps forward to beat your timing, and it's a race of thousands, not yours, motivate the people around you to run the life together.

ALL RIGHT! I am off to bed! will be off to Cameron For PKA camp! stay tune!

10 THINGS to accomplish in 30 days of Holiday T.T

Hi World!

All right just got my half day sleep and now in Khaleel catching some meal and heading for marathon later. Yes my category starts at 3.30, and whether you are prepared for this marathon, i guess stepping or running on Penang Bridge during the weez hour is definitely something rare to accomplish. Owh well i won't be setting a time for myself, just know that i must enjoy the race, besides that i have no plan to train fit to represent uni anymore, due to hectic training and i feel i will better place my time in some other networking, but of course i go often runs to keep fit.

Yes holiday is here again, and 30 days i know, it wouldn't be a holiday at all, I really really need to put in some personal time and train up my self management skills to face 2nd semester like crazy. so yea here are the few things to do!

1. Read finish my book...

Yes remember the book i mentioned i bought in Changi Airport? I am just like.. reading around 30th page there. "How to instantly connect with Anyone" by Leil Lownders.

Quite a leisure thing to read and love the examples the author use. But yea reading this book doesn't really mean i am desperate to connect with anyone k! Hahaha, but i am more interested on how the author's ideas inspire her to write this book.

2. Brandstorming and Designing for GreenLung Carnival 2010

Yeap was in few Green Lungs meeting and am in the department of Publicity, man i guess i will be in the Publicity, Marketing, Photographer positions quite often. they all inter related hmm =) Yeap gotta design blog, poster, notice etc.. wanna start something quite impact on branding for the carnival, Nicholas i guess you know what i mean =P reminded me for being communication executive of PM for my LC, Man i need to start studying Branding as a sub course! haha! GLC is happening in February...

ANY USM students who wants to contribute to this newly initiated project, please do join us!

3. Go through My Facebook friend list.

Yes it has passed a semester and i guess i have added up like 500+ friends alone, from MYC till now, well nothing to be proud of, but i guess i have to go through the list and really ensuring they are my friends, one by one. Again i am doing this. Just to make sure i stay connected with people..

4. Start figuring out my 2010 Theme.

Yes it is a nice year =) 2010. Again december is closing, and so goes 2009. As far as i know the 4 themes for this year are Quarter of Determination, then quarter of Outreaching, then quarter of Appreciating, then Quarter of Optimist.. yeap again the reasons are to reach my year theme which is Self Branding. will come to a summary later on..

5. Rearrange my Lappie! really start a portfolio!

Yea my lappie has been officially a mess, all files pictures songs remain unlabelled and scattered around. Perhaps time to back up and change to windows 7? And yea must really start a portfolio! screams*

6. AIESEC Materials

Yes MyLDS is closing up, time to feed myself with some AIESEC knowledge, and knowing the networking among AIESECers malaysia a little better.. and see what my dear VP has to say what to busy about for the next Semester x)

7. Rakan Muda Carnival 2010

Yes this is quite exciting as am manage to run as Head of Publicity department for a national event, and why i challenge myself to enter this is because of the environment, and yes i am the only chinese in the meeting just now, and

i am spreading around to all Chinese in USM , that if you want to challenge yourself for something better, please do join us! my department i mean =P

8. USM Open Relay 2010

Yes again lor.. to call up companies.. bla. hopefully my teammates are good IT savvy people who really knows how to reply Emails ASAP. yes again, head of publicity.

9. Y.E.A.S project 2010

I assure you what i said during MYC 2009 is not just a whisper amid the air, but the idea is something i really consider of, looking at USM having white coffin project and GreenLung initiated by Pharmacist student, I guess it is time for HBP student to start one project. I call it the Youth.Energy.& Aqua.Squad. of course it is gonna be slow, gonna start the proposal bit by bit first and expanding human capital. Exciting! I guess i will be prepared during 2nd year, good timing when i came back from Shanghai expo to learn some resource.

10. Lastly! and most important! Buy my hammie a new Cage!! using my own fund. hahaha. Hamster owh hamster how i miss you at home. LOL.

wow lotz stuff to really accomplish in 30 days plus non stop activities, i know i will never reach it, but yea always set a guideline ma~ =P

And now i shall go back to run and prepare for the run!

6 Things I have Learnt in My 1st Sem & The Set of New path of 2nd Sem.

Hi World!

Yes it feels like Heaven right now, 1st semester papers of my university life has just flashed through just like that, again time is no longer drop by drop of rain drops but just an arbitrary flush of water. Time to step back and see whether objectives and goals are achieved.

Some of the stated objectives are made here..

1. Talking about weekly schedule. yes i discover the powerful usage of Google Calender. And i must really admit IT and online savvy paper moves faster with technology in their hands. Google Calender doesn't only work by showing a whole nice chart of your happenings but you could overlay with your friend's calenders and have meetings without trouble of discussing the suitable time. Google Apparatus really helped me a lot throughout this semester, as long something is emphasizing on speed, i am all up for it. Picasa, Google calender, Google Earth, they are pretty one touch settings and i am a very very IT dependent person, ask anyone around me.. they do not see me without my lappie right? But yea considering to get a broadband next sem as i really really waste time on a stable Campus Wifi. waste time!

2. Budget wise. Yes i am pretty lack behind financial planning. At first i thought i could be like matrics to record my daily spendings but didn't have the discipline. Averagely i spend about 600-700 per month. Yes that is freaking a lot because i eat a lot and buy tonnes of Food. You could even ask me pepper tomato sauce, mayo.. Enough Food to survive as long as one week when Tsunamis hit. I can't study without Eating! but yea i don't do leisure fashion shopping, excluding sports gear. I spend my money mostly on things that will promote time efficiency and add speed to my life.

3. Overall talking about Productive, yes personally i think i have achieved it, but expected to be more busy and productive. As long i have the time to spend one day off or even Laptop gaming, definitely that means there is something better else to be done. Now with after 1 semester in USM, i guess there is no excuse saying of not yet attached to the surprising agendas or busying working scope. Just think everyday, every night if you have achieved something out of your day.

3. Social Networking. Yes that was my main Goal. I have always believed the people you meet in University opens up your future door including Job opportunities. People often why i choose to be over busy, it is not because of Certificates or some super lame MyCSD marks, screw them up they are nonsense, the main reason is to meet different people, and to diverse my contacts, from different years, different admins, different courses. Partially one of the reason why i do not choose to attach to a Society or Organization before second year. And yes the idea of name card initially really helped me throughout the semester. Even myself didn't realize i could add 500+ people from one semester alone in Facebook. Gonna go through my friend list soon to update myself with the people i know though.

Social Networking isn't just about going around and getting to know as many people as possible, it's about identifying the significance of knowing the person, then only truly you will appreciate him/her and keep the string in attached.

I don't just go around and simply giving namecards without the intention of knowing the person right.

4. Corporate Life? Many things i have learnt from USM Open Relay. The thing that got me a little fed up during second half of first sem. It isn't any Competition which has transition of knowledge from seniors to us, it was something so new that Coach just place me as head for Marketing and Publicity. To make it worse, i am doing a double portfolio for a National Event with no proper talent management of people under me. Right now it is better as we are all a little integrated in task management as a whole OC. I guess it's something not many first year could experience. From targeting companies, resource, call up, negotiate, all those annoying stuffs, yes but i find that i have learnt a lot, and it makes me wanna do sponsorship person for the rest events as i have the contact established with some companies.

5. Outstanding Personality? I didn't set anything for this, but i guess it is significant to note that someone places significant in the change or outstanding of your personality, and you have to figure out what is it of you that makes you deserving this award. Yeap i have gotten the title beyond GA Personality award for HBP First year students first semester. It also reminded me how i manage to get 2 years of consecutive model student award in highschool. One thing i know for sure, I DIDN'T SET OR TARGET to do so. Success comes sweeter when it is a surprise. I must admit, i skip classes, and i am sure lecturers know that, all the reason i could think why lecturers award me with this title is perhaps i am a filled enthusiastic person, yea i guess because i am the one who talks the most nonsense in class =P and photoshooting all around, and enthusiasm that in me that shines out i think*

6. Optimistic Value. yes i have tried hard enough, that when piles piles of assignments, task after task of projects, and other personal responsibilities stack together. I always just look upon God and rewind Isaiah 40:31, Give me strength oh Lord, that i may look on this burden as Glorifying your name, and there goes one semester of endless back to back task. I enjoyed suffering amid of stress and time capability, now i know that i could handle a more heavier, self motivation demanding task in the future.

Personally i felt my objectives and goals are quite satisfied done, just hoping that i could have done much more. I always have the same thought again and again* Yes i am stressed out of course. Even when people think that holiday they could rest properly but i tell them it is the holiday that the workload goes double! My Holiday itself also filled up and left one week at home, sorry mom i know.

But i just pray this short break could prepare me for 2nd semester, as many upcoming, unpredictable challenges of course, it's not like first semester i have the freedom to view around what to participate, but stuffs are listed out and interviewed..

yes i realized i have been all along in the trend of publicity since highschool, perhaps anything have to do with media is my taste, and yea i am expecting a hectic schedule from AIESEC next semester as new projects coming in.

So this only means one thing, time to do new goal settings for new semester =) One thing i know for sure, my social networking is not a priority for the next sem, somehow i have had enough fun knowing new people. hahah, FOR NOW. Though i will need to meet 500-600 new people during MyLDS*

yea had my Sunday spent in Georgetown shooting some shots for kungfu Club seniors =) Nice to meet you people! half computer science seniors and half.. my very own HBP seniors.. which i have forgotten since apartment stay with them. SORRY la!! and thanks in advance for giving me the chance to shoot for your upcoming kungfu night next year February 6. Will mark that down in my calender! =)

Actually still have 2 more papers to go.. tomorrow for malaysian studies and then wednesday Environmental Science. Shall mug like a nerd after this till morning tomorrow..

URA (Urban Redevelopment Authority) Singapore - A Study About Singapore's Town Planning

Yea 3 papers went down, had my Built environment and Human Settlement just now, kinda inspired me to flash back and do more research about Singapore's Urban Planning. Mom i have to say this exam i did my best, i wrote in a lot of off syllabus knowledge so hopefully you understand me if my result is bad =P There was one question in about explaining Multiple Nuclei Model.. at first i was elaborating KL town planning..

But reflecting my trip with JinBang to Singapore 2 weeks ago, i realize how solid an evidence is, that Singapore is very Multiple Nuclei Model Like.. I will spill off the following base on my opinions, this is not a professional writing of course, hey i am still a first year student so what ya expect?

The very first time i googled Earth Singapore i was kinda amazed how the transport system and distribution of different industries in Singapore are placed so it doesn't affect each other land value. Click the following pic for a larger version =)

Let's do a little time line reflect, this is based on what i have read on Lee Kuan Yew's book, "The Singapore Story" and also some online information which i have gone through.

Ever since second world war, Singapore definitely had a huge problem in population management, don't ever mention about Urban planning yet. As a consequence of the war and the lack of economic development around 1940's to 1950's, and as well as movement of migrants, most of them from our very own country, Singapore definitely has overcrowded slums and squatters during mid 1959.

History? What happened then?

Of course there was a plan for Urban Renewal. It was the People Action Party (PAP) Government had been in charge then, they put urban renewal in the part of national improvement policy, urgently. However, it was before 1959, that the previous government had the master plan to design to solve the population problems. But due to lack of Urban planning experts and professional staffs so it was not successful. Then? UN United Nations came in, there was a professional team from UN asked by the PAP government to c

ope with Urban Matters and redevelopment Plan in 1961. Then it was the 2 pilot developments were initiated in the end of 1964 by the government who gave the government enough confidence and sufficient amount of public housing and business areas.

Then it was after that the URA was formed (Urban Redevelopment Authority). The Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) is Singapore's national land use planning authority. URA prepares long term strategic plans, as well as detailed local area plans, for physical development, and then co-ordinates and guides efforts to bring these plans to reality.You could read more about them here .

What about Singapore Land?

There are only a limited land area of about 699sq km, and not all the land area can be developed. For example water catchment areas already take up 40 per cent of the land area. Height restrictions imposed by their airports on buildings limit how high some of our buildings can go. For instance, flats in housing towns in Tampines, Simei and Changi cannot exceed 12 storeys because of the flight paths of planes from Changi International Airport. Land also has to be set aside for military uses. And mind you that Singapore's Military power was way

ahead our very countries's ever since their independance. They had their tanks before us!

There are basic and creative steps of URA developed, first as usual, as islands, reclamation off their seashores. And as you can see the land usage is pretty much used up, and very very utilize. They had the idea of intensifying land use by locating various facilities together instead of separately.For example, they locate stormwater collection ponds under road flyovers; they build stack factories; they go underground; they locate train stations and bus stations over each other. and also Singapore's being very prioritized on minimizing constraints on development by using technology such as cleaner power station fuel, or they group all the industry together and relocate them off shore.

Now i would just roughly go around the Island. Again you could click larger to get a better picture what i am describing about. The reason why i say Singapore town development is pretty same like Multiple Nuclei Model is i think the transport system is almost to the point of excellent. Their coverage of MRT is already almost throughout the Island except North of Jurong West which is 2 an 4 areas, and even bus service is satisfying enough, they almost cover all non residential areas in Singapore, and very very frequent bus rides, just very efficient la overall =) SO i believe this has really boost up the market of various sectors.

Infact the geography of Singapore, as you all know, it's a common trading and regional meeting area. Singapore didn't undergo industry evolve like us, as production sectors, they did not have resources at first, it was their good relation with China last time that gave them opportunity to invest in their country but setting up the assembly point and manufacturing sector there, since they are strategically located. Since then, Singapore grew rapidly.

URA seems well to locate two biggest worried sectors along the shore, worrying that they will affect the land values which is very very precious to most singaporeans and the government themselves. In Area 9, there goes to Changi Airport, so far the best Airport in the world, and beside it it is pulau tekong with the under develop Military Base, Singapore has 5 Airports so far (Based on what i have seen from google earth) I don't know how many not in used and all, but Changi Airport alone is well capable of handling many flights, just look at the runways and terminals it has. Other 4 will be the old paya Lebar airport and 3 more military airports.

8 will be basically landed properties. It was because during the mid 1990's that was the place being developed along since there was no in need to build HDB flats and the old roads was passing there to reach the southern part as British priority.

5, is of course the heart of Singapore, town of singapore. This will be the CBD Central Business District, it was pretty similar like how Penang grew with Georgetown in the first place. From the port near by, and then the administrative not far away. Here lies major shopping malls and city tourism.

6 is of course Sentosa Island, CBD seems to have completely devoted the whole island for tourism purpose, with cable car well linked from HarbourFront mall, and furthermore the construction of Marina Bay which is expected to complete next year will catch the many eyes of casino complex around the world.

1 will be the key i believe. It's Jurong Island with it's mega size port. It's the main source of how singapore grew i guess. Singapore is more towards a service industry right now compared to manufacturing, as they have singapore expo to host different global events, and their first world facilities are all ready to accomodate the needs, but this port is more than a port island. URA has considered of changing the whole Jurong Island into a port or manufacturing Island! I'm just guessing. Look at the whole island, not even a single tree! But they place it at mostly off shore so no land value of residents especially around Jurong would be disturb i guess. Even pulau Brani and Pasir Panjang, almost the whole southern coast is port activities. Truly one of the largest port compared to the size of a nation or island!

3 will be mostly HDB flats. I guess it was during the national plan that they build it there to support the man force for Jurong Port and the manufacturing Industry around there. This is the picture of it.

Imagine the size of the super high density complex. Maximizing land space without disturbing traffic flow.

2 and 4 reserve as the water catchment areas. Of course they will need to reserve it for future use. However, during the last archifest visit, i have seen the plans that URA wanted to develop 5 big recreational parks there. Will update with it soon then..

7 of course reserves as the center of water catchment, perhaps the only dam of singapore? in the highest peak? National Zoo and Night Safari is located here too...

But of course, they don't offer nice foods here x) I met this Singapore Uncle randomly in a bus, talked to him about several things esp architecture in Singapore. he's a retired accountant and yes i could tell him how he inspired me in a 10 minutes chat! Talk about governments and really change my perspective about Singapore. Singapore is not always the so wonderful place you see actually. i guess.

URA (Urban Redevelopment Authority) of Singapore is definitely something nice to study about for most town planners. Even Google earth alone about Singapore is fun to observe!

credits to Jin Bang who was my travel mate during our 3days 2nights in Singapore.

Yes i have lotz stuff to blog actually =P like " 10 lame funny ways to better time management" of course my version la.. or about "10 things in depth observations about singapore".

So a few simple things to shout about!

1. I am still a Nike Loyal Fan!

Yes i bought my another pair of Nike shoes in Queensway singapore. I must admit that is the best place ever to shop for shoes, not because they are cheap, but the varieties is beyond what you see always because the shops there are not official nike retailer or same goes to others, but it is some 3rd party buying in mass quantity and they have a whole lot of varieties where you can't get from Branded shops, either it's yet to release, expired models, they have it all. with real good price.

I got mine for 100$, and if you notice the nike+ watch and the pedometer sensor, they also cost 100$. What is so special about it? whether it is released in Malaysia, I have no idea, but it's good that you could upload your run records to Nike and gets consultation from it. and plan your running schedule etc.. it's a USB watch by the way.. with the sensor planted in the shoes, could calculate the distance you have run and calories.. time.. pace.. everything la.

2. My sem break is officially called week break.

yes supposingly to have sem break from 22 november till 28 december.. But guess that 23rd till 26th i have PKA camp up in camerons.. then 29th till 3rd dec will be in Vietnam Family Trip.. then 4th till 11 dec MyLDS up in UUM Kedah, then finally WEEK BREAK! then 18 till 25th dec USM Athletes Centralized training, for preparation for MASUM as well as USM OPEN RELAY Discuss... then school reopens 3 days later =) Mom sorry for being such. Am all excited for it =)

3. I bought a new book =)

i am not a frequent reader as most of my friends now, last time i was quite into non fictions book, but those leaderships economy books.. and guess what did i get now?

and where i bought it? Changi Airport? cause i was there for 2 hours before flight and decided to grab one book to read, and the author was the best seller of "how to talk to anyone". At first we might thought it's lame and those for too poor in communication, but i tell you, this lady really has some catchy tips inside =)

4. USM Open Relay.

Praise God that the athletes event first time ever started by athletes club USM is doing well. At first i struggle lotz and lost hopes when stuffs are hard, but when sponsorship and participant forms are out, hopes coming in as sponsors are coming in! happy la memang! but yea need to worry about it even during this study break =/

5. Study week.

Yes this week suppose to be studying, i must admit i still haven't start, even tomorrow i am going to Georgetown to settle some JPA stuff and going around with Faiz my friend to shop for his flash.. =) but i always tell my mom one thing. I am always confident when it comes to busy, no matter how busy, and i know i could because my past results showed it.

6. My 1st semester have finished,

and i shall blog another post about it. about what i have learnt and whether resolutions and expectations are met =) but i guess the first one has failed x) eh how to find my dreamgirl in my course la? =P No girlfriend from first semester, not to say i am desperate, but in 2nd year and 3rd year, architect life is no simply life like you think to find for one. First sem ended successfully, i would say wrapped up happily with getting to know much more better with many architect students which i am going to work with in the future.

Yes again, welcome to my 200th Post

sorry mind you this is a dry post =/ can't upload pics don't know why!

and i guess this is my 4th or 5th blog so yea you could imagine my blogging life started ever since lower secondary, but got real deal of it around end of upper secondary i guess.. So i guess i will want to share why am i so indulge this world of blogging =)

Often my mom says blogging waste time, i know she is reading this* and i am proud to say that my mom reads my blog* But however in blogging, i guess Miracles happens.

1) Social Networking

-Yes of course the main core of reasons what everyone says. It is powerful of course.Getting to know people virtually or in reality does make you a preference to know the person's space more. I would say facebook first but if the person would want to understand me more, then there goes blogging. Facebook doesn't offer space for you to shout of course, but blogging is like the book of yours, you write whatever and then you could even hit the google search engine and people start falling unto your blog. Say like USM architecture, last July if you google it, my blog is the first result of all. and as far as i know, quite a number of people landed on it. Even the 5 coursemates i got to know before i enter this course, they are all the source from my blog! How i got to know the church i am attending and PKA all this, is because Lesley drop a simple message in my blog too!

2) Stop and stare

- Yes of course nostalgic. You truly appreciate to see how you have changed. Blogging is not like any journal you could get missing with, it's stored virtually memory =) You really really learn how to appreciate your thought and trace your personality as you read along your past posts and current ones, say my old blog www.wonderfulprocrastinator.blogspot.com . I could really notice a huge change in myself, the thoughts and perspective and all.

3) Global Sharing

- My style of blogging isn't a daily journal, or daily news, or whatever you could think of, i tried to fuse them up. I don't treat my blog as a space of sharing feelings, but thoughts. I'm a thinkable person, not feeling type. I share what i feel about this world, education system, politics, general views.. not often i know, but i try. Because you really get opinions from various people all around the world when the google hits fall on you. And also my Matriculations post, I shared about my matric life and tried to help people about getting to know more about it, so many again came and commented, quite encouraging to help them up!

4) Part of My Goal.

- Sounds weird i know.. but one of my core goals in life is to be a motivator to everyone. And it has been quite a pleasant thought to know some people acknowledge my blog as something very energetic filled perhaps? thanks anyways. Perhaps i RAREly have emo post, and more about self motivating, checkpoints, self determinations post i guess?

5) Organize thoughts.

-Writing definitely helps you to build up better memory. Imagine that writing in a blog, is like talking to a person, it's not like.. "dear diary blablabla" It's like a conversation to the world, but with the ability to restructure your sentence properly and to imagine the impression you give to others. That's the power of it, same goes to Facebook but not that many applications of it though.

6) IT savvy?

Blogging simply also means one thing, i spend more time in the internet, and i guess i learn more stuff about sharing information, i learn more about applications when i jump different blogs. No doubt, i would say IT savvy simply means a better networking with a lot of opportunities. Sometimes i really pity people yet to appreciate the power of networking in this virtual world. really.

7) Online Community

Blogger United is the nice example. It's another example of virtual gated community hahaa. Yeap where all bloggers meet and express their thoughts. Of course you will get popular or widely known in the community only when you have a well organized funny blog. The reason why i blog in this context is that it increases the traffic flow of my blog too!

8) Connections

Yes people still will know what am i up to =) especially old friends etc, just a flash at your blog, you could read what is the person up to for the past few weeks. Same goes to my twitter and facebook actually! you noticed i integrate all them up for convenience seek. And especially for my mom who is wondering what am i up to in campus life. I guess she is my number one loyal fan here. hahaa.

9) Free flow extrovert

Yes i notice I have really changed. The style I write. Could really see it when it comes my first assignment in University. Could see how non bloggers and bloggers different when it comes to writing style. It's like we know and tend to analyze what the readers wants i guess? Let's say we are given a page to write about self intro... you wouldn't want to write a baby is born in this day etc... and so goes your family.. I would just write point forms, extrovert, dynamic thinker, dreamer.. Something like that. And seriously, i see myself as more free to express after blogging.

10) Self Branding

Yes, you are more aware of it ever than before. What you say and what you post, truly defines the image of yourself on others. Just as of like right now, i am posting this up, what people might wanna think? I am a thinking type of person etc? so yea it allows you to determine people first impression on you virtually.

So yea there you go, the reasons i blog. Could write much more seriously. I could just tell you how Powerful God's ways he use in this blog. He really introduced to me a lot of people which open up a lot of opportunities and better understanding. amazing, that's the word.

Blogging doesn't waste my time at all, perhaps for some blogs and their bloggers, i think they waste their time in the sense perhaps they blog too much about themselves and only their radius of friends could understand their blogs. for me,

BLOG = Global Networking = Global Information
I should google the meaning of blog and how the word came about =P

On a Random note*

1) My HBP Senior, Jamie Lee, which i just knew her days ago, as a third year student, won CIMB Foundation Best Photograph award, guess how much is the cash award? Enough to buy a new saga BML, Imagine that, yes i am motivated, all out for competitions.

2) I am done with my first semester finally. I have done with my expectation that is networking. Planning to keep PKA, Photography Club.. while AIESEC is a pending on the list, see how long it goes.. and then USM open relay and Greenlung as my side projects, and starting to feel to start a similar project in HBP school, about saving electricity and water. Sounds lame i know, but i feel USM needs it. But owh yea i quit athletes club due to hectic training, but doesn't mean i quit the sportsworld. but heh, i am tired of networking, at last. haha.

3) I want to revive my name in Blogger United. hahhaa.

4) and yes the happy part of study week of all, I am heading down to singapore for ArchiFest! along with my coursemate Jin Bang, 150 bucks 2 ways airflight, cheap right..Promising you tonnes of pictures, who knows i will get another 8Gb memory card there if 1.6k photos is not enough.

Yeap so a busy week has passed by again! phew* finally i find one day having all the time by myself =) plus my room mate went back home and campus is kinda quiet. I really decided to declare today as Anti Assignment or studies day! but guess i am just too much of a result oriented guy =/ so am planning to go to studio tonight study!

Finally! Time Flies! can't believe it is already the 4th Quarter! and again i have the plans laid out all the way till next year =) This week is truly exam week la, all quiz though.. then as usual most of the nights are meeting nights. and like matrics again, i only start studying after 12 to 3 in the morning, my optimum time i guess?

and am loving the java bible which i just installed in my phone =)

The Reason Behind this Hectic Life I Choose

Hi WOrld!

Yes Assignments have finally come to an end! =)

Semester 1 is always on the final dot, but it's just the starting of all.

First of all, stuffs that i am currently into:

1. USM GreenLung project: It is about ensuring our campus is a smoke free campus zone and encouraging and educating staffs and students in USM to stop smoking, am in the publicity and launching campaign departments. And hopefully the event photographer.

2. USM Open Relay 2010: Track Relay Events opened to all Malaysians! during 23 January and happened in conjunction of USM 40th Anniversary. am the head of Publicity and Sponsorship department.

3. NRIC 2010: National Research and Innovation Competition, is an inter uni competition next may holidays... am proposing to join Publicity department but seems that some of the seniors saw me involving in open relay sponsorship, they wanted me to join sponsorship.. so see how the results go la.

4. Golden Key Walkathon OC: I joined it suddenly because it was the sponsorship department that i feel i need to join if i want to help me open relay event, which both events are actually head to head by one week! so i guess i can grab some resource from both sides.

5. Photography Club: so far not many activities, still awaiting orders, but contacted president and told him i want to be in the freelancing shooting team, which i heard we can earn side incomes while shooting for events, and networking in events is what i am looking for =)

6. PKA Family camp OC - Photographer for CF camp! but yea i guess everyone in OC also does different roles together la.. And yea in a way i am also PKA member la =)

7. USM Athletes Club- the reason why i get to be part of the OC for Open Relay 2010, i am not worry that training sucks your time, but physically you are so dead when you have 3 days once week training. and really demanding as of physical concentration! =/ i skip often i must admit. but hopefully good enough to proof that i can go for MASUM 2010. =/

8. AIESEC PM department- Probably the Highlight of my Uni life, something which i am exposed before entering USM. Project Management Department is something i find myself really fit into actually. Right now not many things to do, just that, in the 2nd sem where all projects start, then burn extra oil for it la =) It's my core source of networking!

9. Y.E.A.S project for HBP- This is something i intended to do for 2nd sem, since that Green Lung is started from Pharmacist students, i think there is something for HBP students to work on too, it is a project about saving energy and water supplies, through our building knowledge and applied skills. Hopefully this will be a good platform!

10. Studies! owh that says it all -.-''

First of all, I know this is Crazy, even right now 3 in the morning i am printing stuff for Festival Of Nation later on. And one thing is that, somehow in my case, last time i initiated to choose the most, at 2 activities, among AIESEC, PKA, and Athletes Club.. and guess what? I can't decide, so i went for all, and i thought it was a good choice, but later on, how i knew that each stuff leads me to one another..

How does all of this relate?

In PKA i went into PKA Family Camp OC..

In Athletes Club my Coach put me as Publicity and Sponsorship Department.

In AIESEC, as for PM department, so far nothing, but knowing Peggy as my manager gave me chance to help out in German week and also another part of @ activity, Festival Of Nation.

At first i thought USM doesn't have a photography club, and i was hugging my baby DSLR all along since first day of school, and then there goes suddenly a photography club, so i joined it.

Since i am the Head of Publicity and Sponsorship Department of Open Relay, i see it will be more towards an advantage if i join Golden Key Walkathon sponsorship department, share information! so i'm in again. =)

NRIC is what a temporary project for me, as much as i know it will be in May next year again, I doubt that sponsorship will be a trouble because the reputation of the event is there, and then being the sponsorship person for 3 events will definitely help me very very much. Really looking forward to meet companies.

But it's not 100% effort?

However, I must admit some activities i join is just for the seek of networking, such as GreenLung, because i aware that most of the people are pharmacist and i guess i will need to know more people from variety course. Infact, thinking about my idea of starting a similar project, I figure out that i need to meet the president soon to grab some ideas and guidance from him =)

All in all, the main reason behind all these troubles is social networking i will say. All those really silly MyCSD marks or Koku marks is the last thing i would think of. They are just something university uses to make us join stuffs =.=''

I believe what really makes you successful in future is the networks you know, as well as how people label and share the testimony of your personalities, instead of some superb CVs which is just a first impression.

As of for my first semester I believe that i didn't regret of burning myself joining such a number of stuffs, all in all because i want to set up the foundation of contacts so that later on i could start of something awesome. Let's say the Y.E.A.S project i am planning for 2nd semester.

I might sound like some desperate person joining every single things i see, but i really do consider each thing I join, i make sure i can give it a 100% the best i can to invest, i set my goals and expectations for anything i join, and another thing i believe is that,

Expectations is the main drive of enthusiasm and extraordinary Ideas.

If you could expect MyCSD marks in any little tiny things you do, then you could just expect no experience in return because you tend to do less and talking more.

If you could expect experience and leadership team building, then you would do more than you are told or set to. just to achieve your goal.

USM Failed in the Times Higher Education (THE) - QS World University Rankings 2009?

"UM helped put Malaysia back in the elite top 200 when it climbed 50 places from last year to 180 this year while UTM moved to 320 from 356 previously.However, three other institutions, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) dropped to 291, 314 and 345 respectively.
Harvard University topped the ranking once again; followed by Cambridge, Yale, University College London, Imperial College, Oxford University, Chicago University, Princeton University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and California Institute of Technology.
The highest ranked Asian institutions were Tokyo University (22), Hong Kong University (24), Kyoto University (25) and National University of Singapore (30).

The same criterion and weighting were used to measure the universities, namely recruiter review (10%), international faculty ratio (5%), international student ratio (5%), student faculty ratio (20%), citations per faculty (20%) and peer review (40%)."

First of all, Sometimes i just don't get it, what's with the rat race about to achieve the top universities in the world, while we are still not getting the basic value of means in education first. Being in the top 400 is an achievement i would say. There are estimated 9000 universities around the Globe. Sometimes i wonder why we are so after university position internationally rather than putting university out of its role, and to help out communities outside here. I even heard Rumors that UM, even though they had their international student ratio increased, many hospitality is left there to be and not much attention has been paid towards these students, isn't this another epic shame as well?

I was reading with disbelief "Hard work pays dividend for UM", where the writer wrote "USM.. is a real disappointment and certainly did not live up to its (Apex) status. This is quite frustrating and I couldn't stop agreeing with what Dr Thevananthan from USM school of Education said.. He quoted our Higher Education Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled' Nordin saying..

We should not relate Apex too much with the THE-QS rankings. Apex
isn't meant solely for ranking purposes and we expect it to show results after
2010.

Does the person really understand what is APEX and how much one University have gone through to get the title? I understand that the selection of University to grab the title of Apex doesn't depend on overall achievement solely etc.. but mainly on how well the University present Its Ideas and Visions. In USM, we say "We Lead'' In here in USM, we decided some time ago that it is very irrelevant for us to be caught up in the mythology, that is, THESR, and to instead focus on how we might serve the people of Malaysia and the world in a way that will not just stimulate the intellectual nad moral growth of our people, but to also serve the less fortunate and less able.

There are estimated about 9ooo universties world wide, whether we are number 1 or to the last on the superfluous and biased rankings on the THESR, I believe that shouldn't be a matter of measurement. My opinion is that UM, USM and all the other Malaysian universities in whatever position they are in THESR, are great in their own rights and do need rankings to reinforce this. Infact if we continue to be driven so deep with the mythology of THESR, we will be better to afraid of a higher possibility of corruption and misleading improvements.

And why is there more concern about whether UM is getting its position back to the top 200 rather than improving our other Local Unis such as UMP Unimas UMS etc? I personally think we shouldn't compare ourselves to NUS or something like that, they are at a different position and economy driven, what we should really look at is how our education system overall is really impacting our community and nation, and then reset and integrate the vision for all to share. In a way, i don't really see how united Malaysian Universities are. Just my two sens.

All right.. some random updates..

the positive view of this week!

1) No assignment this weekend.. though i slept at 6 in the morning for my SHE assignment just now..

2) and am having fun stuff going on this weekend! Assignment trip in reserved forest behind USM.. and then 2 beach outings!!

3) I started studying! such a miracle!

4) Started sending out motivation sms.. doesn't cost much at all.. my digi and maxis line send out to 20 contacts.. hopefully the sms help some people to start off a good day..

the negative view of this week!

1) Had a real hard time understanding why some people couldn't even do a simple task and saying they have exam to focus on etc, while i have 4 non academic projects running together and i am balancing them all, so far so good though.. it's very frustrating lor. and it's more frustrating to think about again is there anything wrong with me to lead as a leader. =/

Hi world!

Yeap didn't update my blog for a few days already.. and yea if you are expecting i don't update it due to business in life, then my life wouldn't be busy already. Get that? haha don't care my crap la..

All right! Just came back from Sungai Ara school just now. Stuff is awesome. Went along with Jan (from holland), Goro and Hiro (from japan) and yea take lotz of pictures again =) and quite funny to remind myself how shy i was last time during form 4 to answer questions..

Yeap the 3 musketeers.. With one different case, of one being as tall as two meters. owh my goodness la...But there is, somehow something that made me thought.

I personally think that one of the reason why participants is shy, because (perhaps) some of them haven't even met a non malaysian before, and just avoid it shyly when we ask them questions, owh i got this last time before.

But this girl is quite an initiated product of thinking differently.

It's a surprise to see why she wants our autograph. My assumption could be even she has never really met international people, (there is possibility) As what i know from my friend, Sg Ara school is quite a local oriented school.. Yes i will be expecting some of them to surprise to see us, like what i have seen after that, but this girl took the initiative to approach and know us. It just simply tells how many places in the world today is still not under the process of globalisation. I know there is no help for it, but yea pity them.

Thank God i've seen those.

and yes i miss my CG people. =/

Yes we are so world apart now, some off to UK, Aussie, states..

and i still can't forget how Pastor Foo thinks about the future of our CG when we are about to fly away =P haha.i will sure visit back soon. He just regard me as a 'once in a blue moon' member. haha!
